Ally Marshall isn’t just a wolf shifter—she’s a Seer. But a girl doesn’t exactly need special powers to know that Derren Hudson despises her entire kind. Disdain practically rolls off the Beta of the Mercury Pack…disdain mixed with a healthy dose of desire. And no matter how much the ruggedly handsome male appeals to her, this is one call of the wild she’s determined to ignore.
After one betrayal too many, Derren doesn’t have much use for Seers—except for Ally. Forced into acting as her protector, he finds himself intensely and passionately drawn to the woman who incites his primal instinct to claim. And when enemies target the pack, Ally’s gift may be just what the Mercury Pack needs. Can he put his distrust aside, or will he force himself to turn his back on the one woman who makes his inner beast howl?

Cliffhanger: Well, the series continues...
I remember reading this one, i even remember reviewing it here and now the review has magically disappear from my lists. This is not the first time this has happened...whatev!!
Having this problem caused me to go back to this book and i had forgotten how much i love these characters, so i re-read it again and again, hehehe.
Ally is having one hell of a time in her pack, so when her protector manages it to save her, she all but jumps at the chance. Now she is in a new pack where Seers are not just not welcome but hated and with reason, but she makes sure that everybody gets to know her and not what she can do. So little by little everybody starts thawing around her, specially Derren...
Derren hates Seers but with Ally he learns that no matter what people can do, they can always choose to do the right or wrong thing and what happened to him was because that person was mean and it had nothing to do with being a Seer, and everything to do with the person.
There are some people trying to take the Mercury and Phoenix pack and Ally helps them by having visions.
One thing i didn't like was that Trey wasn't as much there, he was mentioned, he talked, but it was like he was just passing through...it didn't strike me like i was reading Trey's character, but oh well, maybe there was reason, i hope!
Anyway, loved the book, can't wait to read more about this series...highly recommended!

Spiral of Need Mercury Pack Book 1 edition by Suzanne Wright Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews
I mostly listened to Spiral of Need on audible and really enjoyed the narrator. I would definitely recommend the audio book if you enjoy that medium. Spiral of Need is the first book on a new series. I have only read the first two books of the Phoenix series, which this one is spun off from. I missed their alpha, Nick, getting his own HEA. However this didn't detract from my enjoyment of this series. So no matter if you have read the previous series or not, your enjoyment of this story shouldn't be affected. There will just be an overload of characters that you won't have background on, but that doesn't matter. I really liked Ally. She was a heroine who was strong, smart and resilient. I also really liked her with Derren. They had plenty of chemistry together and it was satisfying to see them giving in to their attraction. This had some nice action and a bit of a mystery thrown in too. I really enjoyed it and would absolutely recommend to fans who love paranormal shifter romance.
I LOVE Suzanne Wright and have been waiting for Spiral of Need to come out. In fact I have it pre-ordered and jumped for joy when I discovered it available to review on NetGalley (Thank you so much!!) We actually met Derren Hudson in some the Phoenix Pack series books (while you don't have to read those first I would recommend reading them because many of the characters from those books make appearances and they are great!) He is the Beta for the Mercury Pack and Nick, the Alpha's, best friend (although neither would admit it.) He is the quintessential broody, rough-around-the-edges, sexy, hot, alpha male even if he is the Beta. Who has been deeply hurt in the past by those who should have loved him. Not to mention he is very anti-social and he also hates Seers and with good reason that is until he meets Ally.
Cain, a crazy psychopath, wolf whom Derren knew from his past asks Derren to take Ally into the Mercury Pack to protect her until he gets out of prison and can do it himself. Derren reluctantly agrees and goes into this thinking that Ally is Reid's mate. Which makes the chemistry and lust he feels for her so wrong in his book. I mean this is the mate of a crazy person who will kill Derren if he touches her. Yet Derren doesn't care! He knows who and what he wants.
"Understand this, Ally. There is very little I consider an obstacle when I want something. And when I want something as badly as I want you, I won't let anything or anyone keep me from it. I marked you, and I don't consider that a small thing. Do you?"
Ally Marshall is a wolf shifter and Seer who always feels like she doesn't belong and an outcast. When she was young her entire pack was slaughtered with only herself and Cain surviving. Since then Cain has been protective of Ally and when her former boyfriend Zeke's true mate begins to make problems for Ally Cain turns to Derren. For everything that you would think Ally would be after surviving the things she has the one thing she is not is weak. She is strong and has a mouth on her that doesn't quit.
"You need to seriously rethink defying me." "And guys need to stop shoving their hands down their pants to play with their balls in public." Ally shook her head. "Some things will never change."
These two together are amazing and the chemistry is off the charts. As always Suzanne Wright has created a world that full of life. Of course I am so thrilled that Dominic (from the Phoenix Pack series books) makes an appearance here. He is my all time favorite and I really can't wait for him to find his one true mate. His cheesy pickup lines are going to get him beat up one of these days but he just doesn't seem to care. He always brings the right amount of humor to any situation. I can't wait for the next book!!
I received this book for free from in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. This review was first published at Blushing Reads. http//blushingreads.com/review-spiral-of-need-mercury-pack-by-suzanne-wright/
This is a great romance and a great wolf shifter action story. There are two main plots, and one of them is something I've wondered about before. In this universe, shifters have fated mates. Sometimes they don't meet, though. As this author writes it, the shifters can fall in love with someone and become so close they imprint and mate. Some think it is wrong not to wait for their fated mate and so resist imprinting and don't think well of others who imprint. This story starts with a female wolf shifter who was in a relationship and maybe almost imprinted, but her lover then met his fated mate and left her. She was adult about it and stepped aside with no interference in the mating. But, the new mate is out to get her--she totally ruins the life of her mate's old flame. This is one of the main conflicts of the story and I really like how it was handled in the story. I loved how crazy the bad female was, and she really managed to cause a lot of problems. Don't worry though, there is a new male for our abandoned lady wolf and I like him much better than the one she gave up.
If you have read the Phoenix Pack series you will recognize a lot of characters and get to see what is happening with them.
It is a great action story and especially a romance.
